The Harvey Municipal Nature Reserve is also adjacent and within Bruma to the north. Here you can get great views of the Magaliesberg from the Linksfield Ridge.
The area has a small lake as the Jukskei River flows through it. Next to the lake, there used to be a well-known flea market, which sold a variety of local goods and souvenirs. Today the old market has been replaced by a Chinese Mall. Those who sold in the old craft market have moved to Oppenheimer Street, which is close by. These people still attract many tourists to the area.
The residential section of the suburb contains many townhouses and apartments, but also some lovely homes. Residents in Bruma have easy access to the Eastgate Shopping Centre, where they can do their shopping in one of Johannesburg’s largest shopping centres. You will also find the Garden Court Eastgate Hotel within the Bruma area. Schools nearby include the Cyrildene Primary School and Queens High School in Bezuidenhout Valley.
The Bruma area is ideally situated close to major transport links; the R24 and N3 Eastern Bypass are easy to access. The OR Tambo International Airport is also only a short drive away along the R24. The Bezuidenhout Park is nearby, where many enjoy a Parkrun every Saturday morning. There is also a caravan park and plenty of space for the kids to run around.
